Curious about Kundalini Yoga? This introductory workshop will serve as a window into the ancient practice of Kundalini Yoga.
Kundalini yoga aims to awaken bodily and cosmic energy with breath, sound and movement. The ancient yogis referred to a dormant energy at the base of the spine, and sought to awaken this Kundalini eneregy from the lowest chakra, guiding it through the sushumna central channel to unite with the absolute consciousness in the crown chakra.
In this introductory course, we will practice a few basic bandhas (locks), dhrishtis (eye positions) and pranayamas (breathing techniques), as we explore the deeply feminist tantric roots of this ancient practice. Together, we will practice a basic kriya, a set of asanas, journeying through our energetic centers or chakras. We will conclude with a meditation using naad (sound vibration) and mantras to connect with the nectar of this ancient practice.
