The August Full Blue Supermoon's name comes from a special occurrence where there are two full moons in one calendar month. The term blue moon is actually one of the more modern terms to describe the full moon, which is why there aren't many native names to describe it. There has always been a certain feeling of magic and power behind the energy of every full moon, however the blue moon holds even more potential in creating clarity and providing release in our emotional lives. It is believed that the intentions created during the blue moon hold true until the following blue moon, which only occurs about every 2.5 years. This is the time to zoom out in this vision quest that we call life, and create intention surrounding longer cycles, perhaps thinking of them in yearly terms rather than monthly. This is also a time of greater connection to the spiritual realm, so be persistent in seeking answers from your guides, highest self, and higher planetary beings so you may find clarity in the macrocosm of your life. Honoring this time of magic can allow spiritual knowledge to come forth and anchor in your psyche, as well as connect to the childlike nature of creativity and spontaneity.
At this gathering, we will align with the energy of the full moon so that we may harness the potency of all it has to offer, and notice in our physical/emotional bodies the changes we have experienced in the previous cycle. We will briefly discuss the themes associated with the Full August Blue Supermoon, then find our way to a Restorative and Yin Yoga practice accompanied by sound therapy and mantra, and close our practice with a guided meditation designed for deep rest and relaxation.
No previous yoga experience required.
