New Class! Calm: Breath, Movement, and Meditation with Jaclyn Muir

  • Roots & River Yoga 17 West Potomac Street Brunswick, MD, 21716 United States (map)

New IN-STUDIO Weekly Class
Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30pm

Compassionate attention is at the very foundation of yoga asana (poses), pranayama (conscious breathing) and meditation (self-inquiry). In this class, we will explore subtleness by integrating gentle breathing techniques to ground the nervous system with ultra-gentle and accessible movement for the joints to discharge tension from the body tissues. The practice will slowly wind town into guided and silent meditation and finally into a deep rest.

For those who are new to yoga and these self-care modalities, this class will provide a welcoming gateway into movement and meditation for beginners. Seasoned yogis will find this class enriching through the deepening of awareness through the slower paced movement, breathwork and space for stillness. We will cultivate a somatic sense of calm to usher us into a night of rest.

Cost: $15 or Class Pass/Membership

Jaclyn’s pursuit to heal and find wellness led her to yoga in 2014. What she found in her yoga explorations is that one is welcome as they are. This level of acceptance and the foundational teachings of yoga captivated Jaclyn and inspired her practice and her desire to share yoga with others. Jaclyn completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training through Life’sWork Yoga and her 200-hour meditation teacher training through the Radiance Sutras school. Her intention as an instructor is to create a safe and compassionate space for yogis to have an authentic experience, to “come as you are.” In practice with Jaclyn, one can expect asana exploration, linking movement with breath, and mindful observation of the body’s sensations.

No previous meditation or yoga experience is needed to enjoy this practice.

This class begins Wednesday, September 7th and will meet in-studio weekly from 7:30-8:30pm
