Yin Yoga and Nourishment for the Fall Season with Jessica Grosman and Machelle Lee

  • Roots & River Yoga 17 West Potomac Street Brunswick, MD, 21716 United States (map)

In the Five Element tradition of Chinese Medicine, the Metal Element is honored throughout the season of Autumn. During this time of year the natural world demonstrates the necessity of pulling back on energetic demands and drawing precious resources inward and downward to the hidden realms within the plants and beneath the soil. Not surprisingly, the organs associated with the Metal Element are the Lungs and Large Intestine, as they govern the balance of drawing in and letting go.

In this workshop, Roots & River Yoga founder and Yin Yoga specialist,  Machelle Lee, and Registered Dietitian, Jessica Grosman, blend their experience and expertise to offer a seasonal workshop to nourish you on physical and psychological levels as you transition into the season of Fall.

Eating locally and seasonally, and adjusting one’s physical and meditative practices throughout the year, has been a way of life for millennia.  When we choose to align all layers of our physical and symbolic nourishment with the seasons, we forge connection with the ancient way of feeding and caring for ourselves, and thus cultivate  a greater opportunity to feel well every day.

During this workshop, Jessica will guide a discussion about food and nourishment considerations for the Autumn.  She will suggest ways to relevantly support the Lungs and Large Intestine by providing examples of seasonally appropriate foods, meal preparation tips, and copies of her delicious recipes to enjoy during the Fall.

Machelle will lead participants through a meditative Yin Yoga session stimulating the acupressure lines within connective tissues that support the Lung/Large Intestine organs and meridian pathways. Throughout the practice, she will discuss the physical functions of these organs, the psycho-spiritual gifts of the Metal Element, as well as share simple ritual ideas to connect your life meaningfully to the season.

No prior experience with yoga or nutritional study is necessary to benefit from this workshop

Cost: $50
