Restorative Yoga: An Evening of Unwinding with Carrie Dennison (Join In-Studio, Online Livestream, or Receive a Recording)

Sink into a nourishing evening of self-care with Restorative Yoga. The focus of the practice is to support to the body in order for the mind and heart to find a state of ease. It is during times like these, when things are uncertain and complex, that we can benefit from these slower practices the most.

Restorative Yoga can foster feelings of safety and security within ourselves, rather than fully relying on external factors. During this restful practice, you may find yourself in a meditative state where your body is deeply relaxed but your mind is aware and clear. If there is a lot to unwind in the nervous system, revisiting Restorative Yoga practices can forge new pathways for greater mental and somatic ease over time.

The Restorative Yoga postures are passive and will be held for long periods of time (up to 20 minutes) to give you time to unwind.

ONLINE Attendance - If you have a yoga bolster and blocks, great, if not Carrie will offer other suggestions. Once you enroll for the class,  your registration confirmation email will include the Zoom classroom link. Also, there will be a link to a short video of Carrie to help you gather the supplies from home you will need and show you how to set up your poses. You will also receive a playlist that you may choose to listen to during the practice that can aid in your relaxation.

IN-STUDIO Attendance is limited to 6 people. We encourage you to bring your own props but will have studio supplies to supplement your restorative practice, if needed. If you prefer to have all of your own supplies, we do have props for sale at Roots & River Yoga’s boutique, if you come in earlier for class or reach out to machelle@rootsandriveryoga.com.

Carrie’s love of yoga fostered from a need for balance in her life after struggling with anxiety from a high-pressure corporate job. With a strong desire to support others in finding peace in this crazy world, she earned her 200-hour RYT training at Ananda Shala in Frederick, MD. After discovering the importance of rest and stillness to complement a busy life and active yoga practice, she was drawn to incorporate restorative yoga in her practice and teaching. She studied Restorative Yoga under Tara Lemerise ('Rest for All' Teacher Training). Carrie earned her level 3 Reiki Master certification in 2019 and utilizes the therapeutic benefits of doTERRA essential oils in her classes. Carrie's goal is to assist others to learn about different tools to support healing and stress management and build integrated community.
