The Winter Solstice marks the beginning of the three darkest days of the year, when the sun is lowest in the sky, before it begins to slowly rise again, each day having a little more light. In honor of the “season of the soul’s rest” and tending our inner reservoirs, Machelle will lead a candlelight contemplative Yin Yoga practice. Through the class, you will be guided through a meditative Yin Yoga sequence to support the winter energies of Kidney/Urinary Bladder and the element of water, while Machelle reads soothing poetry on the beauty and symbolism of the season. The evening will end with an extra long, restorative savasana.
This practice will aid you in discharging physical and emotional tensions and create space in the heart and mind for the receiving what winter’s quietude can bring.
Yin Yoga utilizes floor poses held for 3-5 minutes each in order to modestly and methodically, stimulate subtle joint tissue and fascia, especially in the low back, spine, hips, sacrum and knees. Guided relaxation and long quiet pauses will nourish the nervous system and naturally draw the mind inward into a calm, relaxed, and restorative state.
Cost: $20
