Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga with Machelle Lee and Tara Lemerise

Yoga students commonly ask us if Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga are the same thing. While both have qualities of restoration for the body/psyche, they are actually vastly different practices. In this workshop, Restorative Yoga instructor, Tara Lemerise, and Yin Yoga teacher, Machelle Lee, invite you to come and experience the unique and profoundly valuable elements these two practices offer.  Yin Yoga utilizes poses on the floor, either sitting or lying down, held for 3-5 minutes each in order to modestly, within limits, stimulate ligaments through traction and compression of joint tissue. In the first segment of this workshop, you will move through a full body Yin Yoga practice designed for the support of the joints, tendons, and ligaments of the low back, spine, hips, sacrum, knees and ankles. This mediative practice will prepare you to sink deeper into rest. Restorative Yoga is even more “yin," meaning even more subtle, than Yin Yoga. In this portion of the workshop you will find a unique circuit of poses, with all of the necessary blankets, bolsters, and blocks skillfully arranged. Instead of asking your body and mind to do more, this practice will  soothe your nervous system, quiet your mind, and help you release deeply held tension in a completely passive way. The combination of Yin and Restorative Yoga will move you progressively into a more deeply relaxed state and provide an ideal opportunity for you to be nourished,  revitalized, and refreshed. Cost: $40
