New Moon Ritual: September Harvest Moon Restoratives and Yoga Nidra with Carrie Dennison

  • Roots & River Yoga 17 West Potomac Street Brunswick, MD, 21716 United States (map)

The Harvest moon refers to the moon that occurs closest to the start of autumn. It marks the time when farmers depended on the moonlight to harvest their crops late into the night. This moon is all about reaping the benefits of our efforts this year, and taking stock of your progress before the winter season.

Moon rituals are a magical way to connect with the natural cycles of life and nature. New moons remind us to check in with the parts of ourselves that are expanding and the areas of our lives that are experiencing new beginnings. In yogic philosophy, one big obstacle to letting go of suffering is what lives in our unconsciousness. As the new moon begins in darkness, we can use breath, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra to explore the parts of us that are in the shadows to bring us into our own light.

Feel free to bring a meaningful item to place on the Moon altar for tonight’s practice. It could be a crystal, a picture, a piece of jewelry, really whatever! Maybe something that inspires aspects of the Harvest Moon or something that honors the fullness and wholeness of you and this human experience. No previous yoga experience required.

Cost: $25
