Moon rituals are a magical way to connect with the natural cycles of life and nature. New moons remind us to check in with the parts of ourselves that are expanding and the areas of our lives that are experiencing new beginnings. In yogic philosophy, one big obstacle to letting go of suffering is what lives in our unconsciousness. As the new moon begins in darkness, we can use stillness, rest and meditation to explore the parts of us that are in the shadows to bring us into our own light.
November’s Beaver New Moon is named for the time of the year when hibernation is near and animals are stocking food for winter. Offering particular attention to practices that invite gratitude and gathering with loved ones are supported by the Beaver Moon. Nature begins to invite our attention inward as the colors of fall fade away and the days become more gray. Nowadays, in our more modern society, it’s common that we do the opposite, ramping up our schedules in preparation for the end of the year. This is a good time to practice internal healing work, focus on family life, and build a spiritual connection to our communities and to nature.
In this month’s New Moon Ritual, Sabrina will lead you through intention setting, Restorative Yoga, Sound Healing and Guided Mediation to cultivate gratitude, connection, and rest in the magic of the new moon.
