Throughout history, names have been given to the full moons to identify the month of the year. The most well known names for the full moons come from the Algonquin tribes, some of which lived in our region in Brunswick, MD. June’s full moon is called the Strawberry moon, inspired by the freshness of the berries that are ripening and the sweet beginning of the summertime expansion.
The shifting shapes and cycles of the moon are a constant source of wonder and curiosity. Just as it influences the tide and when farmers plant seeds, the full and new moon transitions bring energy and change for us as our bodies respond to its emanating vibration.
This full moon gathering will provide you with tools to ground and stabilize into the spirit of the Strawberry Full Moon. We will begin with a brief description and discussion of the Strawberry Moon’s meaning, symbolism and psychological associations. We will then relax into some Restorative Yoga poses to settle the mind and body, then sink into a long, image-rich guided meditation.
