Introduction to Breathwork for the Curious with Alicia Barmon

  • Roots & River Yoga 17 West Potomac Street Brunswick, MD, 21716 United States (map)

The nervous system doesn’t speak with words, it communicates with tone of voice, breath and touch.

Breathing is one of the fastest ways to mitigate the autonomic nervous system. It gives us direct access to a system that is involuntary and responds to the stimulus that surrounds it. When we have a relationship to our breath, we can shift our nervous system in as little as 90 seconds. The ability to consciously tap into the breath is a life changing and self-regulating tool that can create the capacity to be with the full range of our feelings and the space to heal.

In this workshop you will learn different breath techniques to stimulate digestion and metabolism; the importance of CO2 tolerance in anxiety and panic, and how to use the breath to drop into calm and meditative states.

Breathwork is best practice with a relatively empty stomach. Please only eat lightly that day and ideally not eat for 2 hours before the class, if possible.

Cost: $25
