Event Canceled - Stir, Balance, and Ground: A Lower Chakra Immersion with Carrie Dennison and Sierra Lusby

This LIVE ONLINE workshop will bring us together, to connect in meaningful ways through Zoom. Registrants will receive an email with a link to the online class one (1) hour before the workshop begins AND “view broadcast” link will show up on the studio calendar under the event, so registered and logged participants can find the Zoom link there as well.

The first half of the workshop will be dedicated to a Vinyasa flow led by Sierra Lusby. The connection of breath with asana will bring awareness and energy to the chakras. This flow practice will prepare one to sink deeper into the profound rest offered during Restorative Yoga.

For the second half of the offering, participants will be guided by Carrie Dennison through a series of long-held Restorative Yoga postures with the support of bolsters, blankets, and all things comfy. During this time, the chakras will harmonize as we settle down in order to release tension in the body. Visualizations and mediation will be woven throughout the entire workshop.

Participants will leave with an understanding of the psychological and physiological characteristics of the first 3 chakras while feeling calm, connected, and confident. Time is allotted at the end of the practice for contemplation, reflection, and takeaways.

Because Vinyasa yoga is inherently more active, with sequences that have participants repeatedly moving from standing poses to floor poses and back to standing again, this workshop is suggested for physically active beginners and/or those who have experience with yoga.

Please bring a journal for written reflections.

Cost: $35

Sierra provides depth to the traditional yoga asana by incorporating mindfulness and psychology creatively into her practices. Sierra is a trauma-informed, body-positive, and strength-based teacher, who uses unconditional positive regard to empower her students to live their best lives both on and off of the mat. She believes that self-love is a foundation for healing. Students can expect to feel seen, safe, and strong in each practice, through dynamic Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, gentle flow, and Restorative Yoga. She has studied under Machelle Lee for several years and enjoys teaching Yin Yoga from the perspective of the Chakra Model.

Carrie offers an open-minded, fun, and relaxed environment for anyone to practice yoga. She inspires students to become more aware of their mind and body while guiding them how to take that awareness off the mat to living their life to the fullest. She received her RYT 200 from Ananda Shala in Frederick, MD and after discovering the importance of rest and stillness to complement a busy life and active yoga practice, she was drawn to incorporate restorative yoga in her practice and teaching. She studied Restorative Yoga under Tara Lemerise ('Rest for All' Teacher Training). Carrie earned her level 3 Reiki Master certification in 2019 and utilizes the therapeutic benefits of doTERRA essential oils in her classes. Carrie's goal is to assist others to learn about different tools to support healing and stress management and build integrated community.
