Rooms and Registration

Our Guatemala adventure will begin with two (2) nights in Antigua at Hotel Soleil followed by seven (7) nights at Villa Sumaya on Lake Atitlan. The rooms at Hotel Soleil are built into the overall retreat price below. At Villa Sumaya, there are three different room options, each with its own price point.

The Retreat Packet Price Includes:

• 2 nights at Hotel Soleil in Antigua (with breakfast)

• 7 nights at Villa Sumaya (three meals each day)

• Ground and boat transportation to and from the airport, Antigua, and Villa Sumaya

• Gratuity/tips for the hotel staff at both locations (expect for breakfast wait staff at Hotel Soleil)

• Participation in a Cacao Ceremony at Villa Sumaya

You will be assigned a room at Hotel Soleil depending on if you are a single or double occupancy since all the rooms are similar. Reservations for the Villa Sumaya rooms are available on a first come, first serve basis. The prices listed below are per person for single, double or triple occupancy. If you are traveling alone but are interested in a roommate, please let us know and we might be able to match you with someone, though we can’t guarantee it. If you select double occupancy you will share a room at both Hotel Soleil and Villa Sumaya.

Hotel Soleil (Antigua)

We will be spending our first two nights (November 7 and 8, 2024) at the Hotel Soleil, which is about 8 blocks from the central plaza and easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the artisan’s market.

Villa Sumaya (Lake Atitlan)

We will be spend an additional 7 nights (November 9th-16th) at Villa Sumaya on Lake Atitlan in the highlands of Guatemala. Eric used to live in the town of Panajachel on the lake. We have hosted two groups at this all-inclusive retreat center earlier and had a marvelous time. Check out this video tour of Villa Sumaya.

Below is more detailed information about each room. Villa Sumaya is built into the side of a mountain, so please note the information about the number of stairs for each room. The Maya Rose rooms are down closer to the shoreline, with fewer stairs to the main courtyard, dining room, and reception. The various Ginger and Lotus suites are higher up from the lake, with more space and grander views, but require climbs of 40 to 70 steps up from the main courtyard.

Retreat rates:

The retreat rates listed below include two nights at Quinta de las Flores in Antigua (with breakfast) and seven nights at Villa Sumaya (three meals each day), ground and boat transportation to and from the airport, Antigua, and Villa Sumaya, as well as gratuity/tips for the hotel staff at both location. Please note that this is an adults-only retreat (ages 18+) and to reserve your rooms through us, not through the retreat center.

Guest are responsible for airline tickets, additional meals, services or tips at Villa Sumaya’s Spa, and any excursions to neighboring towns on the lake during free time. We will have two optional day-excursions to go zip-lining and take a cultural tour in a lakeside town. There will be a nominal extra charge for those who wish to join the group day trips. More information will come with the registration packet.

Register and Make Your Deposit!

Please read the Payment Plan and Cancellation/Refund Policy below carefully before you submit your room preferences. Once we receive your registration form, we will email you a link to make your $300 deposit and reserve your space.

Payment Plan and Cancellation/Refund Policy

Please take careful note of the payment dates and our refund policy.

DEPOSIT
$300 non-refundable deposit is due upon reservation and will be applied to the overall cost of the retreat.

1st PAYMENT
50% of remaining balance is due by August 1, 2024
Half of this payment amount (minus deposit) is refundable if you cancel on or before October 1, 2024.

2nd PAYMENT
Final 50% of remaining balance is due by October 1, 2024
Half of this payment (minus deposit) is refundable if you cancel on or before October 15, 2024.
After October 15th, there will be no refunds.

You will be invoiced via Quickbooks two weeks before each payment due date.

Roots & River Yoga November 2024 Guatemala Retreat

Space is limited to 11 room reservations.
Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis and will follow the order in which
applications and deposits are made.
Once we receive your application, a link will be emailed to you to make your initial deposit.

Hitting “Submit” sends your room requests to Roots & River Yoga. An email with a link to make your deposit will follow shortly. Please note that you need to make your $300 non-refundable deposit to reserve your space/rooms in the retreat.
